EMTEK DESIGN
The new Studio Brass product category introduces boutique designs, inspired by the world beyond door hardware. Every detail is explored and crafted with the application of industrial design through traditional and experimental methods.
Emtek’s inaugural design, the Spoke knob, by Will Zhang, celebrates a decade of industrial design at Emtek by re-envisioning what a modern door knob can be.
SPOKE KNOB
The Spoke knob deconstructs the concept of traditional door hardware by stripping away excess material, leaving a single spoke to bridge the body of the knob with its base.
Minimal and sophisticated, the hollow ring design is interrupted by a singular rung, attaching it to the central rod and providing an understated and slightly unexpected detail. Intended for modern interiors, with its pared-back look Spoke will add a refined element in more rustic or traditional settings as well.
INTENTIONAL ASYMMETRY
The Spoke knob requires handing to ensure that the spoke itself is directed towards the bottom right when at rest, as intended in the design.
